Summer 2020 Application Cycle is Now Closed

Competition Rules and Application

The Purpose of Holding The YouTube Piano Competition:

Due to the influence of the coronavirus, piano competitions throughout Japan have been postponed or canceled for the summer of 2020. Piano learners who have worked hard toward their goals are in a difficult situation. Therefore, by having prominent judges comment and evaluate the process of their efforts, learners can continue to be motivated.

YouTube Primary Screening:

Participants will send a YouTube video link to the application form on the website with one, two, or three songs recorded.

Recordings do not have to be of high quality. The online piano competition will be judged by pianists and professors from Japan and abroad. Judges will provide reviews and advice sheets for students. We cannot accept any complaints related to the examination.

Notes on Playing:

You must play by memory when recording.

Make sure that we can see your whole body, including your face and hands. Only unedited videos will be accepted (We will disqualify if you shoot the video and sound source separately).

There is no designation of the piano used for playing.

Limited to videos taken after May 2019.

The participant will be disqualified if the selected time is exceeded or a song different from the submitted song is played.

The organizer cannot take any responsibility for the trouble of the competition.

This competition does not belong to any organization, political group, or religious group.

About Your Personal Information:

Your personal information on your application and the YouTube sound source will be used only for the purpose of the competition, such as screening and announcing the results of the competition on this official website. We will not disclose it to a third party without the consent of the person.

Participant Fees:

Fees will be charged depending on the age of the participants and the length of the song selected. Please note that categories are determined based on the birthday and birth year.

Payments are to be made via PayPal as described in the application. The participation fee you paid will not be returned for any reason.
